You are here: Home Mifare
Mifare is a trade mark of NXP Semiconductors which refers to the most widely used type of contactless smart cards. The Mifare technologies are based upon the ISO/IEC 14443 Type A 13.56 MHz contactless smart card standard.
The Mifare Classic card contains a memory that is divided into segments and blocks with simple security mechanisms for access control. The cards are available in two memory sizes; 1K (1024 byte) and 4K (4096 bytes). Thanks to their reliability and low cost, these cards are widely used for electronic wallet, access control, corporate ID cards, transportation or stadium ticketing.
If you wish to use existing Mifare Classic cards for an access control system that provides a high level of security, you may consider using a secure sector on the Mifare card for access control. Nortech can programme cards with unique card numbers stored in a dedicated Nortech access control sector. The cards numbers can only be read by readers that have been especially programmed to do so by Nortech. This will not affect the other uses of the Mifare cards.
If you would like an access control system that combines high security with competitive card prices, then Mifare Classic may be the ideal solution for you. Nortech can supply cards with unique card numbers stored in a dedicated Nortech access control sector. The cards numbers can only be read by readers that have been especially programmed to do so by Nortech. You also have the option of using the cards for other smart card applications in the future.
